The Life of a Butterfly

Introduction: From Caterpillar to Butterfly Butterflies start out as caterpillars. Caterpillars love to eat and can grow very quickly. When they are ready, they make a cocoon, or chrysalis, around themselves. Inside the chrysalis, their body transforms into a butterfly. This process is called metamorphosis.

The Life of a Butterfly Butterflies have four stages in their life cycle: egg, larva (caterpillar), pupa (chrysalis), and adult butterfly. After the butterfly emerges from the chrysalis, it pumps fluid into its wings, which allows them to expand and dry. Then, it flies away to find food and a mate.

Butterfly Habitat Butterflies can be found all over the world, from hot deserts to cold mountains. They like to live in areas with lots of flowers and nectar. Some types of butterflies migrate, which means they travel long distances to find a new home. Overall, butterflies are beautiful and fascinating creatures that capture the imagination of people all over the world. It's important to protect their habitats and give them the space they need to grow and thrive.
