The Inspiration and Journey of TheCalling
The Beginnings of TheCalling
TheCalling is a band that initially began in Los Angeles, California in the late 1990s. The band consists of four core members, Alex Band (vocals), Aaron Kamin (guitar), Sean Woolstenhulme (guitar), and Justin Meyer (bass). The name “TheCalling” was inspired by a dream that Alex Band had one night, where he heard a voice calling out to him to start a band with that name. From there, TheCalling came into existence and began their journey into the music industry. The band began performing local shows in LA and quickly gained a following. In 2001, they released their debut album, “Camino Palmero,” which featured the hit single, “Wherever You Will Go.” The song became an instant hit and reached number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The Successes of TheCalling
Following the success of “Wherever You Will Go,” TheCalling released two more albums, “Two” in 2004 and “The Great Divide” in 2011. Although neither of these albums reached the same level of success as “Camino Palmero,” they still showcased the band’s growth and musical talent. Throughout their career, TheCalling continued to tour and perform, sharing their music with fans around the world. They performed at various festivals and concerts, including Live 8 in London in 2005. Their music was also featured in several films and television shows, including “Love Actually” and “The Princess Diaries 2.”The Challenges of TheCalling
While TheCalling experienced great success and achieved international fame, they also faced their fair share of challenges. In 2005, they parted ways with their guitarist, Aaron Kamin, due to creative differences. This was a difficult time for the band, as they had to find a way to continue making music and performing without one of their core members. In addition to the departure of Aaron Kamin, TheCalling also faced financial struggles and legal issues with their record label. These challenges resulted in a hiatus for the band, and they went on hiatus in 2005, with Alex Band pursuing a solo career. The Revival of TheCalling
After several years of hiatus and solo projects, TheCalling officially reunited in 2013, releasing a single “Anything” and performing a few shows. However, the reunion was short-lived, and they went on hiatus again soon after. In 2020, after several years of silence, Alex Band announced that he was planning a full-band reunion for TheCalling. The reunion tour was set to take place in 2021, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been postponed. Despite these setbacks, fans of TheCalling remain hopeful and eagerly await their return to the stage. In Conclusion
TheCalling is a band that has experienced highs and lows throughout their career. From the inspiration of a dream to the challenges of the music industry, they have persevered and remained dedicated to their passion for music. Their fans continue to support them, and their future as a band is still bright. As they prepare for their reunion tour, it is clear that TheCalling’s music continues to resonate with fans and will always be remembered as a part of their musical journey.
