In the world of Enroth, the once formidable armies of heroes have fallen one after another before the relentless march of the demonic forces from the planes beyond. The last stronghold of hope, the city of Erathia, has been under siege for months, its walls battered and breached by the hellspawned engines of destruction. The last of the king's knights, the bravest and the most skilled, have been dispatched to buy time for the evacuation of civilians and the retreat of the surviving troops. Yet, even as the last defenders of Erathia brace for the final onslaught, a daring plan is hatched. The archmages of the Silver Cities, remote enclaves of magic and learning, have pooled their knowledge and power to create a gate that can transfer a small group of heroes to the very heart of the demon horde. The aim is to assassinate the demon lords, the generals of the infernal armies, and sow confusion and discord among the ranks of the fiends.The Last Heroes' Sacrifice
A group of five heroes, a paladin, a ranger, a mage, a warrior, and a rogue, volunteers for the dangerous mission. They enter the gate, armed with their best weapons and spells, determined to do what no one else can. They emerge in a desolate wasteland, a battlefield of fire and brimstone, where demonic legions clash with the remnants of angelic hosts. They fight their way through the carnage, slaying demons and dodging traps, until they reach the citadel of the demon lords. There, they face the mightiest of the infernal foes, towering behemoths of fire and shadow, and the demon lords themselves, twisted and monstrous parodies of life and intelligence. The heroes fight with all their might, but they know that they cannot win. They do, however, achieve their goal: they plant the seeds of distrust and hatred among the demon lords, revealing secrets and lies that undermine their unity and purpose. As the heroes fall one by one, valiant and defiant to the last, the demon horde quakes and falters. The gates of Enroth are open, and the surviving heroes, the civilians, and the troops pour out of Erathia and into the safety of other lands.
